She is on the Board of Directors of the WCA Foundation, an organization that makes financial grants to programs that specifically benefit women and children. She is a long time member of the Minneapolis 410 Investor's Club (NAIC member), the Minnesota Genealogical Society and the Minnesota Historical Society. Montgomery Children * Fifth Generation(Henry Montgomery) All four of the Montgomery children were born in the Smith Memorial Decorah Hospital to Henry and Barbara (Hook) Montgomery. They attended Decorah schools until the family moved to Europe in 1965. They then lived in Trieste, Italy where all except Andrew attended an English speaking school for dependents run by the Trieste United Nations Nuclear Research Center. Andrew attended the Italian Asilo (kindergarten). They returned to Decorah in 1966 when Ruth was in 7th grade, Michael in 6th grade, Kelley in 2nd grade and Andrew in 1st grade. All the children had learned Italian. In 1967 they moved to Charles City, IA where all entered and completed high school. They were active in vocal and instrumental music, debate, drama and sports. All later lived abroad for a year and traveled extensively at that time. Barbara Ruth spent a year (1972-1973) in Japan as a Rotary Exchange Student living in Tomakomai on the northern Island of Hokkaido. She attended school while there and learned to speak Japanese. She then attended Grinnell College in IA where she was a National Merit Scholar, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics, with honors). She worked as an Economist in the Program Analysis Division of the Commerce Department in Washington, DC. She then went to the University of Ml where she earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA, with distinction) and later her Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Industrial Relations in 1985. She was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma in 1984. She then taught Management and Human Resources at Baruch College, a division of City University of New York. From there she went to Ohio State University at Columbus where she taught Human Resources and Labor Relations in the School of Business. She is a published author in her field. In 1990 she moved back to New York City to work in the Human Resources Department of the Port Authority of NY and NJ, where she currently is in labor relations working with various Port Authority unions. She is married to Jacob Caspi, a multi-media consultant, and they make their home in Manhattan. Michael Henry attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA where he was a national Baker Scholar. He spent his Senior year at the London School of Economics, London, England. He graduated from Coe in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (with honors). He then enrolled in the Chicago Theological Seminary for a year. He switched to the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business where he earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1980. He then returned to the Chicago Theological Seminary to complete his Master of Divinity Degree in 1983. In between he spent a year working for the United Church Board for World Ministries, UCC, in New York City. Michael was ordained to the Ministry of Christ at the First Congregational Church UCC, Charles City, IA 1 Jul 1983. From there he went to Tilden, NE for his first pastorate. While there he met and married Margaret McClanahan who was the pastor at the United Church of Christ at Pierce, NE. They have two sons, David Henry and Daniel Edward born in 1986 and 1988. They left Tilden in 1989 when they accepted a co-pastorate at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Ames, IA. In 1995 they moved to Oak Lawn, IL where Peggy is the Senior Minister at the Pilgrim Faith UCC Church. Michael is enrolled in the Doctoral program at the Chicago Theological Seminary. Michael has served on the Board of Directors of: The Coordinating Center for Women (UCC National Instrumentality); United Christian Campus Ministries, Iowa State University (chairperson); Evangelism Committee, Iowa Conference of the UCC (chairperson); and the Valamo Society. Kelly Ann spent a year (1977-78) in Italy as a Rotary Exchange Student living in Cesena, in central Italy. She attended school there and perfected her command of the Italian language. Upon her return she enrolled in Liberal Arts at Winona State University at Winona, MN. After a year she transferred to the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, Wl, where she earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) (Biology major, Psychology minor) degree in 1983. She then moved to Albuquerque, NM where she joined the staff at the Lovelace Medical Foundation developing the quality assurance protocols for basic and clinical medical research. She co-developed the multi-specialty health services research database. In 1989 she enrolled in the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine, Seattle, WA where she earned her Master of Public Health in 1992. In addition to her graduate studies she served as a health services consultant to the Suquamish Indian Tribe in Suquamish, WA. While in Seattle she met and later married Robert L. Ferrer, a Family Practice physician earning the same degree. They now have two children, Alessandra Ruth and Paul Andrew Montgomery, born in 1991 and 1993. They moved to Severna Park, MD (suburb of Baltimore) in 1992 where Robert is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Maryland at Baltimore (UMAB). He spends a third of his time doing research, a third teaching and a third in clinical practice. Kelly currently manages data and performs statistical analysis for multiple medical research projects at UMAB and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Baltimore. Andrew Stuart spent a year (1978-79) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as a Rotary Exchange Student. He attended school while there and learned to speak Portuguese. He then attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Coe in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Administration (With High Honors). He has been elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Delta Epsilon Honorary Societies.
